The silver lining

As our morning routine progressed today our youngest son got sick. As the morning progressed I became bored and proceeded to the shop to work on a couple projects. I decided to build a project that my bride wanted to help on. It is a reclaimed welcome sign hand painted by her. It was very nice having her in the shop with me. I guess that is finding the silver lining out of a sick kiddo!

Hope you like it. Thanks for reading!

You all ready for this?

So we finally got the workshop organized and we are ready to start pumping out some fun projects. As I mentioned previously we have many ideas on items that will make your home feel cozy. I am super excited to start working on these smaller projects with my wife. We have been married for 14 years now and our hobbies are quite different. Now as we were looking at these small and fun projects I saw a little glimmer in her eye, she started talking about these neat projects, then we started talking about how we work well as a team. All of that aside, we spent many more hours than I planned on getting the shop organized but look out world because here we come! I am hoping that we can have 3-4 projects come to fruition over the next few days. Be sure to keep an eye on our website and our Etsy store. Etsy is a simple route to easy shopping. Our products can be found at www.dovetailsanddadoes.etsy.com

Thanks and I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Wow what a day

Well today My bride and I spent most of the day cleaning up the garage/workshop.. I am so ready to get things organized. We have a little more to do but while we were cleaning the queen and I came up with several neat home decor ideas. We are also going to try to get an e-commerce site going so our customers can have a cart and make payments on the site. Please bear
with us as we get the ball rolling! I’m excited to see where this adventure takes us!

Feb. 19

This is the day that I finished my first piece that I would like to sell. It was a fun little project that is sure to warm up a living room or bed room. It’s rustic and unrefined; it is simple (while building it I wondered if the shakers would approve), It has a touch of class being solid oak. The floating picture frame wasn’t stressful to build. I have been in the middle of woodworking projects and had to problem solve or work out a kink in a joint that can be stressful. I can honestly say I had a ton of fun producing the piece and I hope that these types of projects will help those that buy and use them remember fun times in their lives. It is always fun to get creative. While working on this project my lovely bride and I had a few ideas for other pieces that we think most people would love to have in their home. I hope you like the piece as much as I do.

Thanks for reading and I promise I will work diligently to get a few more fun projects out to my viewers.

The beginnings

As I take this adventure I have no idea where it is going. The only thing that I am certain about is that I truly enjoy working with wood. I find wood amazing as it is a natural product that seems to have almost eternal life. While a tree is in full life it is constantly changing, growing, providing shade, fruit, and a place for tire swings. Once a trees life is deemed over this fine medium still has life. It changes according to it’s surroundings and amazingly finds a place in our hearts by being used for building homes, furniture, treasure boxes, or a table that the family sits at to eat dinner. Like humans wood changes with age, it grows character, and as it ages it tells stories of days past.

I’m not sure where we are headed but I hope to keep my woodworking as alive as the wood I enjoy working with. When I get older I promise to tell good stories as well.
